(Fox News Digital)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Chicago police are bracing for a potential week of unrest as the city prepares for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/politics\/elections\/democratic-convention\" target=\"_blank\" data-omtr-intcmp=\"lb_vice-president-kamala-harris-to-formally-accept-democratic-nomination-this-week_postclickthru_25_article1 \" rel=\"noopener\">Democratic National Convention<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe convention is expected to draw an estimated 50,000 people to the city, including delegates, activists and journalists.<\/p>\n<p>The city says it has made necessary preparations with police and the Secret Service. Security will be tight, with street closures around the convention center.<\/p>\n<p>To combat traffic concerns, city leaders are touting a new $80 million train station steps from the United Center. They also have tried to beautify the city with freshly planted flowers and new signs. The demonstration remained peaceful, with attendees holding signs denouncing Israel\u2019s war against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/world\/terrorism\" target=\"_blank\" data-omtr-intcmp=\"lb_vice-president-kamala-harris-to-formally-accept-democratic-nomination-this-week_postclickthru_24_article1 \" rel=\"noopener\">Hamas militants<\/a> in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers Convention<\/a> (DNC) this week, a crowd of protesters gathered on Sunday for a rally.<\/p>\n<p>Though no violence had broken out as of Sunday afternoon, at least one person in the crowd was spotted with a baseball bat.<\/p>\n<p>As the crowd grew to an estimated 1,000 attendees, police officers remained mostly on the perimeter of the rally on Wacker Driver.<\/p>\n<p>The demonstrators said they So I don&#8217;t know, is she Indian or is she Black?\u201d Trump said at the Black Journalism Conference.<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cIt was a very ignorant statement made by the former president, but we should not be surprised because this is someone who&#8217;s often engaged in racial arson to try to inflame passions amongst the American people in a very unproductive way,\u201d Jeffries said. \u201cKamala Harris and Tim Walz are running a forward looking, joyful campaign. The difference between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump is as wide as the Grand Canyon. Kamala Harris is about unity. Donald Trump is about division. Kamala Harris is about the future. Donald Trump represents the past. Kamala Harris will build an economy that allows the middle class and everyday Americans to get ahead. JB Pritzker<\/a><br \/>\n on Sunday dismissed concern that the anti-Israel protests at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) would rise to the level of the 1968 chaos when Chicago hosted the convention decades ago at the height of the Vietnam War.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a whole different ballgame. Here we are, you know, 56 years later &#8212; we&#8217;ve got a very, very different situation,&#8221; Pritzker told CNN host Jake Tapper. &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/us\/democratic-party\" target=\"_blank\" data-omtr-intcmp=\"lb_vice-president-kamala-harris-to-formally-accept-democratic-nomination-this-week_postclickthru_20_article2 \" rel=\"noopener\">The Democratic Party<\/a>, honestly, has coalesced around this candidate. That was not the case in 1968. We&#8217;ve got &#8212; policing is all different now, and we&#8217;ve got technology at work.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\n&#8220;And, really, the protesters\u00a0are protesting something that is very far away from here.\u00a0Very important, but it&#8217;s not about people getting drafted from here, going abroad,&#8221; he said.\u00a0&#8220;So it&#8217;s a whole different situation. And, honestly, I expect that we&#8217;re going to have peaceful protests. We&#8217;re going to protect the protesters but also protect all the people visiting &#8212; 50,000 people <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/us\/chicago\" target=\"_blank\" data-omtr-intcmp=\"lb_vice-president-kamala-harris-to-formally-accept-democratic-nomination-this-week_postclickthru_20_article3 \" rel=\"noopener\">coming to Chicago<\/a> and the residents of Chicago. So I &#8212; a plan has been in place for a year and a quarter now already. We&#8217;re going to execute on that plan in the next four days.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\nTapper noted that one of the organizers called Behind Enemy Lines, a leftist, anti-imperialist protest group calling on its supporters to shut down the DNC, has urged supporters to make bruises from Chicago police batons the 2024 back to school fall fashion.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You guys prepared for that?&#8221; Tapper asked.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If there are troublemakers, they&#8217;re going to get arrested and they&#8217;re going to get convicted,&#8221; Pritzker. &#8220;But the fact is that the vast majority of people who are protesting, and we&#8217;ve seen this before, are, you know, peaceful protesters. They want to have their voices heard. They&#8217;re going to be heard, no doubt about it. (Kevin Dietsch\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Chicago <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/dem-mayor-blasted-ridiculously-blaming-deceased-gop-president-deadly-july-4-gun-violence\" target=\"_blank\" data-omtr-intcmp=\"lb_vice-president-kamala-harris-to-formally-accept-democratic-nomination-this-week_postclickthru_19_article1 \" rel=\"noopener\">Mayor Brandon Johnson<\/a>\u00a0said Democrats &#8220;can handle&#8221; anti-Israel protests descending on the Windy City during the Democratic National Convention, adding that the party has the &#8220;privilege&#8221; of demonstrators coming to &#8220;bring their grievances&#8221; to Democratic leadership.<\/p>\n<p>\n&#8220;We&#8217;re ready for this convention,&#8221; Johnson told ABC correspondent Marth Raddatz on Sunday. &#8220;In fact, the city of Chicago, as you know, has hosted the most conventions in our country&#8217;s history because it turns out we&#8217;re actually really good at this. You know, the part that&#8217;s actually most exciting, though, in this moment, is that this is a party that can handle protest and protecting the First Amendment right, which is fundamental to our democracy, while also strengthening our democracy and speaking to the future of our country. Unlike the Republican Party, which is very painful to watch right now, I don&#8217;t know what&#8217;s worse watching the Republican Party or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/sports\/australian-b-girls-father-in-law-takes-swipe-judges-over-olympic-breaking-score\" target=\"_blank\" data-omtr-intcmp=\"lb_vice-president-kamala-harris-to-formally-accept-democratic-nomination-this-week_postclickthru_19_article2 \" rel=\"noopener\">breakdancing at the Olympics<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\nRegarding safety concerns, as Chicago PD is down about 1,700 officers, Johnson said the &#8220;local police department has worked with the Secret Service as well as other local agencies to ensure a safe, peaceful, yet vibrant, exciting convention&#8221; and that the city of Chicago &#8220;has been rated number one as it relates to convention centers and how we make sure that we protect people, while also providing an opportunity to see the beauty and the soul of who we are.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Asked whether he anticipates fewer anti-Israel protesters now that President Biden dropped out of the race, Johnson instead cited the &#8220;tremendous excitement&#8221; about Vice President Harris and &#8220;her work to ensure that working people in this country are prioritized.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\n&#8220;She selected an amazing human being governor Walz, a former social studies teacher like myself. So just a shout out to all of our public school teachers around America. So absolutely, there&#8217;s a great deal of excitement now, as far as you know, who will provide some dissent, to ensure that the voices of individuals who want the government to be better, look that&#8217;s going to happen,&#8221; Johnson said. &#8220;And in fact, you know, we support the First Amendment, and we have to make sure that we protect the rights of individuals. A lot of people look at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/biden-could-beat-daylights-trump-push-up-contest-former-dnc-chairman-boasts\" target=\"_blank\" data-omtr-intcmp=\"lb_vice-president-kamala-harris-to-formally-accept-democratic-nomination-this-week_postclickthru_14_article2 \" rel=\"noopener\">Howard Dean\u2019s fifty-state strategy<\/a> as the Golden Age for the DNC in terms of investing in those state parties,\u201d Harrison said on MSNBC\u2019s \u201cThe Weekend\u201d on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cWe, in our midterms, we put 40% more into state parties,\u201d he said. \u201cWe created a red state fund than what Howard Dean did in 2006, and so we\u2019ve been focused on that, and that\u2019s thanks to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in helping us garner the resources to do just that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harrison said there\u2019s been \u201cunprecedented collaboration\u201d between the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), the Democratic Governors Association (DGA), and the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC).<\/p>\n<p>He is on a Signal messaging chain with DSCC Chair Sen. Gary Peters, D-Michigan, and DCCC Chair Rep.
