Idalia strengthens to Category 4 hurricane<\/a><\/h2>\n

The time to prepare is over and a dire situation is unfolding along Florida\u2019s Gulf Coast as Category 4 Hurricane Idalia continues to rapidly intensify in the Gulf of Mexico. Catastrophic, life-threatening storm surge and destructive winds will pound the state\u2019s Big Bend region as the monster storm nears the coast just hours away from landfall.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The FOX Forecast Center is actively tracking Hurricane Idalia<\/a> as it churns toward Florida as the tenth named storm of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season. Idalia rapidly intensified into an extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane hours ahead of the storm’s Florida landfall.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Florida<\/a> Governor Ron DeSantis issued a state of emergency for half the state ahead of the catastrophic threats from heavy rainfall, gusty winds and storm surge.<\/p>\n
